Problem Statement- Retail
Retail and property are our core businesses at the New World Group. In Hong Kong, the Group operates K11 MUSEA, K11 Art Mall, DPARK and the upcoming 11 SKIES project with cultural retail as the focus. The retail and mall industry are faced with the challenge to innovate at its fastest pace ever, with rapid changing customer behaviours and patterns.
11SKIES, a game changing retailtainment destination, will become Hong Kong's largest hub for retail, dining and entertainment located right next to the Hong Kong International Airport with gross floor area of 3.8M SQF., containing 800+ shops with 120+ dining concepts. In order to manage day to day operations in this large scale complex, we would like to seek for new technology solutions to optimize manpower demand for routine jobs while maintaining service standards and operational efficiency.
Currently at K11 MUSEA, our app allows customers to upload their own receipt to earn KLUB points in order to save queuing time and enhance the efficiency. However, as there are variables like the different layout of tenant receipts, complicated payment breakdown with offers and promotional discounts, there is a portion of receipts that require manual checking and validation on the backend. We are looking for solutions that can automatically recognise documents especially receipts with high accuracy based on the customers’ uploads with in order to provide a seamless shopping experience.
Visualising Retail Patterns and Trends
11 SKIES aims to serve shoppers from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and the rest of the world. We would require innovative solutions especially on customer shopping behavior/pattern identification to cross-sell our offerings to the targeted mall visitors. The solution should be able to cater the different segments of customers who will be able to enjoy a tailored, original & innovative journey in 11 SKIES and the New World Ecosystem. Additionally, market research estimates that over 55% of visitors to 11 SKIES are tourists (35% Mainland China tourists; 20% international tourists). Among the international segment, tourists from South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines and Thailand are more likely to visit 11 SKIES, and therefore multilingual capabilities should be considered.
We are looking for opportunities to identify key retail and customer patterns, geared towards our retail operation teams for collecting/ visualising data with insights and analysing patterns, to predict the upcoming trends that matched with our mall positioning and customer portfolios. We offer new happenings and events by time to time, and would require predictive data-retail solutions that analyse the motivation or incentives to attract customers to the mall.
We have two main car park entrances and exits at K11 MUSEA. However, most customers are only aware of our East Gate – i.e. our visual corridor side entrance (the one near Rosewood and K11 ATELIER Victoria Dockside). This has created long queues and traffics during peak hours and at the weekends at our visual corridor. We are looking for ways to educate our customers of the two entrance options for carparking or drop off to relieve traffic congestions at the site.

MUSEA aims to identify international up and coming brands/concepts that are looking to enter Hong Kong or Asia market with technology. We are looking for an intelligent and easy-to-use solution that would collect, consolidate and recommend up and coming brands/concepts that are aligned with the MUSEA vision and positioning, in order to drive mutual collaboration and growth opportunities.
